if your org's promotion criteria don't value glue work you can fuck right off with any claims of diversity and inclusion

What struck out at me was that glue work makes up most of what I do but not once has anyone suggested that I might be happier in a non-technical role. I’m certain that wouldn’t be the case if I were a woman.

structural issues aside, how do you sell your work at review / promotion time? I feel compelled to quibble over relating glue work to non-technical. IMO it can't be done effectively without tons of technical context. I suspect I'm preaching to the choir.

I really enjoy this type of work but it makes me look like I’m not doing anything at work by metrics

yep. our only hope is to get good at telling the narrative, which unfortunately requires the folks with power use judgement instead of made-up numbers
