    Sealed and ready for delivery! My grade 8 students read and replied to Santa letters written by Ms. Valentini and Ms. Cabral’s kindergarten class. We placed them back into their class mailbox. Always a pleasure collaborating with other classes!

    Learning about Human Organ Systems in Science. Students researched a human organ system and identified organs found, explained 3 organs in detail, identified the tissues that make up the organs, and drew and labeled a diagram of the organ system.

    Writing informational text paragraphs. Ss worked in pairs, chose a topic, created a graphic organizer, developed their paragraph based on the success criteria (attention getter, topic & concluding sentence and transitions). Ss and teacher gave descriptive feedback.

    For the lesson problem students worked in groups and represented the scenario using models then by completing a table of values for the model. We discussed algebraic expressions, how to find the nth term value and how to determine if the value is correct.

    Today’s Activation Task for Math involved getting students moving. Students were given a card with either a graph, table of values or pattern rule in words and were asked to travel to the corner that had the model that represented their card.

    Learning about Algebraic Expressions through models. Identifying what stays the same and what changes. Students created their own models and as a class we rotated to each one and discussed concepts such as constant, coefficient and algebraic expression.
