Laziness mostly
Why do Americans have door delivery when there are so many thefts instead of just picking them up at a local shop/delivery station?

You can get stuff delivered to stores / pickup lockers etc as well. It's just convenient for them to come to your house!

Ah I see, I'd never dare to have home delivery in the US, seems like the people there are modern time vikings

To be fair many are unable to leave their home very often due to disability or illness and/or don't have options of friends/family to always pick up. So delivery options give them some flexibility they wouldn't have otherwise.

There are also a LOT of us that aren't near any major city or shopping location that don't really have theft problems.
