The ones that broke the rules typically weren't as good though, imo.

True but that's more in the bugs bunny cartoons when it's bugs and wile e, not the road runner and wile e. Though I could be wrong.

Several later cartoons not directed by Jones broke some of the rules, and I feel they were worse for it. Except maybe about him always being on the road. That one perhaps was a bit silly and could be better explained as "always running when possible"

My mom sewed a Wile E. Coyote patch on my ski jacket when I was six. On a trip to Sun Valley, I found myself in line next to Lorne Greene(of Bonanza, my favorite show), who commented on my patch. We skied together the whole day.
