a lot of artists, me included, treat backgrounds like an afterthought but your emphasis on gorgeous, creative environments in the second pic is beautiful!!! I love this so much, also the art you posted on your account with the staircase leading down from the mouth-like shape

Awww thank you much~!! In a way backgrounds are also like characters that can have their own personalities too that can work well along with the character :3 I'll more than likely draw the character on the stairs again since I like the design too much XD
