Imagine if Venezuelans fought back. Citizens launch their own cryptocurrency, giving coins to all families. Verification done by third party, maybe in US & staffed by volunteers. You win by replacing a dictator's currency with one for your people. Fight.
Bitcoin works for savings but isn't scalable enough for daily use, yet. Equally important these people have nothing so airdrop is essential. Maybe a Nano or Stellar fork would be viable. Also interesting both coins were airdropped into existence & both have value.

My guess is savings much more important than daily use in hyperinflation. IOW, keep 95% of money in SOV and periodically sell 5% into inflating currency as needed to buy stuff. Bitcoin already works great for that.

Bitcoin works great for savings. But it doesn't solve the problem of Venezuelans using a dictator's currency, which gives it value. Replace the dictator's money and you destroy his power.
