If #Hashed is funding them means its likely at least a legitimate effort. I skimmed through the project.
I don't understand why they wouldn't just use the stellar token for remittances. Why does the project need its own token that rides on top of stellar?
Thanks but I'm almost exclusively interested in new chains. I'm also skeptical of anything with the word remittance because its often used with arguments that illicit an emotional response to override reason. (usually their scams)

Stellar themselves encourage sub-ecosystems with their own active economies. For a project like ours with immediate real-world application, it's especially important for us to avoid externalities that could arise from accepting a 'third-party' crypto exclusively.

Maybe I'm looking at this naively. Here's what I see. Your token is a money Token like Stellar, and it rides on top of Stellar, but your adding a custom wallet, and working with merchants & users for adoption because you can get funding to do it this way. Is that right?

A little more complex. It's a bit similar to the reason why there are other ethereum-based tokens even though there's ETH. Usually, you want the primary value driver of your payment/utility token to be activity within it's own ecosystem. Of course, funding is a great bonus.

Funding is essential. I think if there was someway for the protocol to pay you for marketing and integration of the stellar unit itself, it would make more sense. Because you'd both benefit and extended existing network effects.
-
My guess is that the token which wins the remittance market will be a native unit on the chain but I could be wrong. Good luck to you & your team.

Interesting perspective. Skepticism for the word remittance from existing institutions is part of what makes it so difficult to do in our target markets, and that's why it elicits emotions. Please check SureRemit out. We'll like to hear your thoughts about our approach.
