I had honestly never considered/realised that people keep quiet about this.

I'm a rainbow baby, and this year we've already had two miscarriages in the family that were talked about very openly.

Always just figured that was normal for everyone, since there's a reason you don't really tell a lot of people before week 12?

Why don't we talk about it before week 12? It means people either stay silent, or have to say "BTW I was pregnant then I lost it."

We don't talk about it before week 12 because babies die A LOT before week 12. Like, a ton, really. And I believe to some it would be more >

of a nuisance to go around telling everyone they lost their baby. Because you get so much fake pity left and right that's just not helping >

but making the eventual pain so much worse.

Yeah, I do get that. Maybe it's a failure of society that we can't view pre-12 weeks as a "maybe" thing, for ourselves and others.
