I mean, why not? Weapons are named after mythology and history all the time, both in games and the real-world
I'm not big on weapons so if that's a common thing I didn't say anything (it still doesn't make any sense and bugs me, though xD)

But why would it bug you? Would be hard-pressed to find any sci-fi or fantasy game not drawing inspiration from mythology
