Out of the office, finally time to tweet about tampons! Here's EU tampons, note the missing giant plastic syringe:pic.twitter.com/yo04enED6M

Ah. See this is weird to me that they don’t have an applicator. Guess it’s just a cultural thing

I was thinking about it a little bit and it might have to do with the US being significantly more prude (mostly back then, but also still) "a woman TOUCHING her VAGINA? THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!".

It’s the same reason menstrual cups aren’t taking off even though they’re way better for the environment and a hell of a lot less expensive

I'm still shying away from those, too. Mostly concerned about having to change it in public restrooms and it getting stuck.

LOL I can safely say I’ve never had mine get stuck before but it is kind of weird if you have to change it in public. But they’re good for 12 hours so I feel like it’s pretty rare that I run into that scenario

Wait, so tampons without an applicator are weird to you but a cup isn't? Weird. And yes, just the usual irrational fears of the unknown. I just ordered one, though.

Weird in the sense that it’s not something you see widely marketed here. I think shoving chemical cotton in your hoohoo is weird, not the lack of applicator

Ah okay, that makes sense. It's definitely weird, but knowing how strict regulations are in Germany I always felt at least "safe". But now I'm excited about the cup!
