For these I used what
@phi6 had suggested. Recorded game footage with OBS and then used the recorder of ScreenToGif at 500x500. I didn't use Encoder 1 for quite a few because the file size was way too big, so instead I went with Encoder 2 and killed off a lot of colours. -
I've found GifMicro to be quite effective when compressing gifs - maybe worth trying?

At first glance, it looks like they are using the same method as ScreenToGif Encoder 2 in reducing colours. It only cuts off a few bytes for me.
