Boston, a high-cost city with good transit and pre-car streets, approved more parking spaces than housing units last year. Minneapolis, a medium-cost city with embryonic transit and a car-friendly grid, approved 33% more homes (6,346) and just 4% more parking spaces (4,985).

Here's the most important results you'll hear today: New data shows that January 2020 was the warmest January on record globally. That means this year now has a greater than 50/50 chance of becoming the warmest year in human history. We are in a climate emergency.

Lots of systems being thrown off by fossil fuels. Plants coming up too soon. Food timing disrupted for wildlife. Imagine how much things will change in our kids' lifetimes if we don't act now?

For existing homeowners, our housing shortage isn't a crisis, it's an investment opportunity. And the Venn diagram of homeowners & political powerbrokers overlap almost completely.

Ranked choice primaries only in 2024. IA & NH can still get to go first! But MD, NM & GA join them on the same day, and then 5 more states every Tuesday after that. Or just keep doing debacles, , up to you.

When I tell people I work on climate, lately they say they're worried their recycling actually ends up in a Chinese landfill. They don't think recycling is a climate issue. But it's the one thing they do & use to justify all their other climate-killing choices to themselves.

Iowa cut its coal use from 74% of its power to 45% in just 10 years & ramped wind up to 34%, which political reporters have spent the touting as a success story for the nation LOL jk I haven't heard it mentioned once
