A great way to honor Dr. King is to give back to your community. This weekend, I stopped by Toni’s Kitchen to make some food and care packages for neighbors in need. I also got a tour of the new space they are renovating to expand their capabilities.

This year, we passed the first comprehensive gun violence prevention package in three decades. This legislation will save lives, but there’s so much more we must do. We need to reinstate the assault weapons ban and finally pass universal background checks. 5/6

I had a kindergartner at the time. I remember driving home from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark that day, turning on the radio, hearing the devastating news and thinking–what if I was getting this news as a parent? What would I do if my child was in that school? 2/6

Ten years ago, we felt collective anguish when a gunman opened fire on Sandy Hook Elementary School, claiming 26 innocent lives. In the decade since, we have endured too many more mass shootings, lost thousands of lives, and not done nearly enough to protect our children. 1/6

Beginning in January, the cost of insulin will be capped at $35 a month for seniors on Medicare. This is much-needed relief for Part D recipients: the out-of-pocket individual spending on insulin quadrupled between 2007-2020. Proud to help drive down costs for NJ residents.

I call on my Republican colleagues to forcefully denounce this blatant endorsement of bigotry and hate. We must strengthen our collective resolve to eliminate the stain of antisemitism wherever it may lie in our communities.

I joined Mayor Kazmark in Woodland Park today to talk to residents about the Peckman River flood diversion tunnel. It's an honor to fight for our communities and I'll keep working for flood mitigation efforts across #NJ11.
