bit late but brand doesn’t really matter for memory, since all brands buy the memory from 3 manufacturers (samsung, hynix, Micron) then dress it up in nice heatsinks + decals. Just make sure the CAS latency is 16 or lower.
looking to get some 16gb ddr4 ram, probably 3200 with XMP enabled or so. whats the best brand?

Brand doesn't matter. If you've got an amd cpu try to get RAM with Samsung b-die, o'r hynix DJR ICs so you can tune it later for more fps. Be aware the ICs used isn't always advertised though, so you've gotta google. If you've got an intel cpu pretty much any 3200mhz is good.
