I don't understand why a competitive organization would allow a player to be released and sign with a competitor? Any other team in any sport would have done the same thing, or refused to release him at all.
I don't "blame" them, if he went to another team and popped off it would make them look even more mismanaged. It's just sad to see an org behaving like that, but they can get away with it since there's no players union

Seams like there definitely needs to be more structure to the league or something. Seeing players just leave has been really disappointing for me as a new owl fan, and seeing a team air the dirty laundry on twitter is also really bad.

If there was a players union players would probably start getting fined for not showing up to practice/scrim blocks too. We don't know the whole story but if he says he isn't gonna show up, not much the org can do besides court right now. Probably not worth the hassle.
