Trump says he was, talking about "people there protesting the taking down of the monuments.” THEY WERE MARCHING THROUGH THE STREETS SCREAMING, "JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US!"pic.twitter.com/vHVvXl0MIb
I guess it makes sense that a President who committed treason would defend a general who committed treason.
Imagine not understanding that slavery was genocide. https://twitter.com/thaazf/status/1121804806073356288?s=21 …
The idea that the Nazis were only there to defend the statues is a LIE. NONE of their flyers even MENTIONED the Robert E. Lee statue. They are only saying this NOW, in court, to avoid prosecution.https://twitter.com/AndyBCampbell/status/1121795146478022661 …
Ohhhh, he's was talking about the people who loved a guy who was a traitor to his country and liked to order the savage whipping of slaves. Okay. My bad, that clears it up.
well when you put it like that.
When George Washington was eleven years old, he inherited ten slaves; by the time of his death, 317 slaves lived at Mount Vernon, including 123 owned by Washington, 40 leased from a neighbor, and an additional 153 "dower slaves." Are we erasing George Washington from US History?
George Washington, for all his flaws, was the founder of a country dedicated to the often unattained ideal of equality. Robert E. Lee, despite any virtues, was a leader of a rebellion dedicated to the ideal of white supremacy and slavery.
So Washington fought to end slavery by owning slaves? I’m baffled by how that is possible! He didn’t fight against slavery, he fought against states leaving the union! The civil war was not about SLAVERY! Territorial expansion and Southern States rights were the main causes!
Bruh. If you want to take down statues of any slave holders, have at it. I have history books to learn about their deeds. I don't need a statue to worship them
He was literally a goddamn traitor and led a military onslaught after seceding from the Union....in addition to being a slave owning, torturing and murdering garbage human being.
Actually, Lee released them before the war. Which is more than you can say about Grant. But stay mad I guess.
Lee freed some only during (not before) the war, and he also had his slaves whipped. He was not for immediate abolition and was certainly racist. Whataboutism about Grant is rather beside the point. His family did hold four slaves; he owned one personally--freed before the war.
It’s also not like liberals are out here demanding and defending Grant statues either though... Trump is saying Lee is a great general that deserves monuments and defending
But he led a rebellion that started a civil war. Rommel was a great general in WWIi. We dont have statues of him up in town squares even though he was a great general. It is a nonsensical argument.
