One of modern capitalism's most dangerous fallacies is that getting rich equates to being successful

The successful poor can do well on Youtube if they can afford some basic hardware.
However we still have a ways to go before their income and those of compulsory royalty-earning performing artists get the same share that they got before the internet/mass market copying equipment. (3x as many musicians employed in the 1970s)pic.twitter.com/qerPJ0WrBE
Music channels are a tiny fraction of Youtube subscribers. I know Napster disrupted the CD and vinyl sales quite a bit.
The top~400 Youtubers get way more (because they get competition for ads) than the rest in proportion to their views. I know @TeamYouTube @SusanWojcicki and @nealmohan are working on this, and from what I hear it's hard because after a certain popularity they can't get good data.
The origin of this thread is that success does not directly correlate with revenue. The story and legacy of the success poor can be published regardless of retention rates.
