Why are people pretending that a coherent resolution to poor street and transit design issues is even more excessive incarceration? If we locked everyone up, there wouldn't be car accidents?https://twitter.com/davidminpdx/status/1346342010312015873?s=20 …

David Menschel @davidminpdxJournalists ensconced in the ideology of mass incarceration pull this gotcha journalism – promoting a Willie Horton view of the world – but note they never use this frame for, say, car accidents. For those there’s never a suggestion a single tragedy invalidates the whole project. https://twitter.com/demianbulwa/status/1346336719390404608 …Show this thread2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

You are so blinded by your support of
@chesaboudin that you are unable to admit that this single instance is entirely on him. This man was a known and repeatedly violent offender with over 50 arrests in San Francisco. He had no business being released back into the public.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

What's this "one gotcha instance" BS? Recidivists have to commit crime to be rearrested. 83% are re-caught (doesn't mean only 83% committed another crime) "Gotcha" is pointing at a few cop related events out of 10 million arrests...and calling for defunding. 83% > .001%

I want to defund the police because of the unique violence in our community they mean, no other first world police force kills, or abuses like they do. 40 +% of officer families report abuse, and they mostly die from suicide. My ideal society has less of these violent thugs.

Funny, pretty sure the need for "violent thugs" in a neighborhood is directly correlated to the amount of violent thugs destroying said neighborhoods.https://twitter.com/GrantB911/status/1344157952480063488?s=19 …
