Thoughts on the Hafnium Exchange hack: (1) it's going to disproportionately impact those that can least afford it (SMBs, Edu, States, locals), (2) incident response teams are BURNED OUT & this is at a really bad time, (3) few orgs should be running exchange servers these days.

The COVID deal has been finalized! The good news: vaccine $ & surprise billing is in. The bad news: patient matching provision got cut. Too bad—was smart, bipartisan, data-driven policy. Kudos to for championing this. On to some notable health IT tidbits below

Stunning. Today’s classified briefing on Russia’s cyberattack left me deeply alarmed, in fact downright scared. Americans deserve to know what's going on. Declassify what’s known & unknown.

Let’s be clear, physicians are not inflating the number of patients.

A statement from the AMA saying: "At a time when physicians and other health care professionals are providing care to a record number of COVID-19 patients amidst a third wave, there is misinformation about how patients are counted. Let’s be clear physicians are not inflating the number of COVID-19 patients. Research published in JAMA and in CDC reports indicate the US had significantly more deaths in 2020 than in previous years (excess deaths). Physicians and patients are making remarkable sacrifices and we continue urging all to wear a mask, physical distance and wash your hands to reduce suffering, illness and death."
