Strangely burned into my brain was Fahey’s love of the Slurpee. When he came to LA for an E3, he made it his mission to seek out the slush that he couldn’t get in Georgia. His enthusiasm for something as simple as a Slurpee was remarkable.

I was obviously worried for Fahey: That he might roll over and crush one of the boxes containing a Hasbro SDCC exclusive, thereby negating its worth completely. But Fahey knew at a primal level that he was surrounded by precious treasure.

Fahey and I worked a handful of events together: Comic-Con, Gamescom, TGS. My clearest memory (not including the infamous snoring) was coming back late one night during SDCC to see a passed-out Fahey laying amid a dozen toys, all still in the packaging, on his hotel bed.

I worked with Fahey at Kotaku for ~6 years. He was a joy to read, easily the most lovable thorn in my side during my tenure. Fahey knew how to expertly needle you, and he amplified any teasing sent his way hurtling back at you with increased lethality. No one was funnier.
