At least half of proper Washington are “native born” too. The whole “no one is from DC” is a lazy trope with racist undercurrents.

Well come to Southeast Anacostia side, so you can meet some real Washingtonian and on another note us real washingtonians don't really deal with outsiders like that especially with all this gentrification going on
-
But with all the newcomers it should make you feel right at home well not so much home
but comfortable

"Its uncommon [for gentrifiers] to meet a Washington native."
-
It's common for them to meet Washington natives. As they gentrify, they live next door to us but don't see us or engage with us. Instead, they move into our neighborhoods, and they wait for us to move out so the neighborhood is no longer, "sketchy." ...I ain't moving, though!

"I moved to DC for work and only socialize with people who did the same"

Too bad for you. I socialize with people who grew up in the DC Metro and with people who relocated much later in life. We have a great time and have tons of fun. Maybe you should look at inside and see if you might be your problem.
