Electric trains already exist, it's more efficient if you don't use it to make hydrogen & just use it to power the train directly with overhead wires or a third rail.

They dont exist over long distances - we still use diesel trains. This gives the opportunity to steer solar and wind into a fuel - something that can be done to help solve intermittency

The most environmentally friendly trains are electric. Hydrogen requires three times more energy to obtain and most of it is currently produced using fossil fuels. It IS an important energy store but oil companies are creating Trojan Horses and that story needs to be told.

They run on natural gas that has been steam-methane reformed into hydrogen, making lots of CO2 in process, because stringing wires on that route is too expensive.https://www.treehugger.com/renewable-energy/it-time-hop-hydrogen-train.html …

Your ignorance is showing, Lloyd. Two years ago I attended a presentation by Alstom's North American head engineer on these trains. The hydrogen for this train is obtained by hydrolysis of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen using solar generated electricity. 100% GREEN & RENEWABLE!

is launching the most environmentally friendly trains in the world. They are powered by hydrogen and oxygen. The only waste they produce is water.
We have the solutions. Time to ditch fossil fuels and implement them.
