reading about powdered vs confectioner's sugar and saw the sentence: "It's also sometimes called 10X, which refers to how fine it is. " applying that to the 10x programmer meme is pretty funny. it refers to how fine they are

Why is unconfigured vim happy to add mixed tabs and spaces as indentation? That seems like a completely broken default.

So... despite what the Google calendar help says, it's apparently not possible to transfer an event to a different calendar.

TIL rust doesn't like suffixes in versions, like "a" or "b".

Thankfully they don't both require it at the end, that would have been funny...

python's os.getcwd() doesn't like when is under a /proc/$pid/root/ that points to a filesystem namespace different from the one of the python process.

There is no graphical way to fix this once you're in this situation. I'm not sure the recovery cmd you can get from the installer has the tools to fix this. 3/3

One of the partitions it creates is the EFI system partition, which it creates where it created the main NTFS filesystem during the first install. The installer then proceeds to fail because it doesn't like that the EFI system partition contains a NTFS filesystem. 2/3

Fun fact: this still happens today when installing Windows 10. If you start an install with CSM enabled, it creates an MBR and partitions. When you realize what you did and start over without CSM, it creates a GPT and partitions. 1/3

I don't know what's going on with Google, but there are a lot of times these days where a result around the end of the first page with a very convincing preview that leads me to some annoying scam stuff.

Note, when I say "pile-of-bytes", this was actually a believable case of a valid EUC-JP path for the parent directory.

Turns out... rustc doesn't like that at all. "error: Argument 17 is not valid Unicode". So I guess I don't have to care about the build script behavior... 2/2

So, I was wondering what happens if a build script passes a non-unicode pile-of-bytes path through cargo:rustc-link-search and went a little overboard, moving the entire crate under such a path. Such that I was, in fact, testing cargo/rustc rather than the build script. 1/2
