A spike in traffic deaths places San Francisco’s traffic safety initiatives on the back foot after years of incremental success. Agencies are regrouping with new initiatives, focusing on reducing traffic speeds and overall car use.

This is EXACTLY what we did with Muni reform in 1999. The supervisors and Mayor at the time didn't want to do anything, with the exception of and Tom Ammiano. We circulated a petition for comprehensive reform and the result was Prop E that created .

Just in: Our first official statement from the Iowa Democratic Party. The big news here is TURNOUT. They say it's on pace for 2016, which is LOW. 172,000 turned out in then, down from the record-high of 240,000 in 2008.

I can't wait to find out the results of an arcane voting process composed of 90% white people where the total vote was >15% of a state that voted for Trump. This is definitely going to provide a lot of useful information.

Having challenged SF's lengthy housing approval process in Generation Priced Out, I was happy to see and (via tweets) recently call for change. Supes can start by at least stopping frivolous appeals.

Hopefully this means Matt will support making permitting fast, fair and impartial. This is often referred to as "by right" permitting, where there rules are the rules, and if you follow the rules, you get your permits. It greatly reduces corruption, favoritism and bias.

Quick question: why does Matt Haney get any credit at all for this stuff? What makes him any better than your run of the mill NIMBY that plagues local governments across this state?

Matt ran a FUD measure last year to spike/confuse voters around an effort to streamline approvals for 100% affordable projects. Unlike other major cities, anybody can stall any project for about $600 with an appeal. He was protecting that system.

. O’Donnell notes the 49 Senators who lost the vote on impeachment witnesses represent 19 million more people than the 51 Senators who won. And neocon — of all people — says “for the time being ... We are all Democrats now.” This time the GOP went too far!

Talking a mean game of affordable housing distracts from the reality that these cities need to drastically upzone for any substantial qualities of affordable housing to come about—which would definitely piss off rich homeowners who prefer neighborhood character to housing folks

This is the same talk from Cupertino. And it seems progressively like “wow palo alto and cupertino only want to build affordable housing” until you dig deeper:
