    Sir Iain Duncan Smith said on the Today programme that only 15% of people in the UK who start work at entry level rise above that level during their working life. He claimed this was the worst figure in the developed world. Both claims are incorrect.

    A bold move, perhaps, to step out of academia, but universities are not the only places from which one can do impactful analysis and research. I am also hugely looking forward to working for an organisation whose aims I thoroughly support. 2/3

    I will keep a Uni of Essex affiliation for a while, and will continue to run the UKMOD project from Essex. The plan for the future management of is being discussed right now with ESRC, and an annoucement will be made by Essex or ESRC in due course. 3/3
