Hey Twitter, gentle reminder that persistent sexual comments are unwelcome and sickening, not flattering. Men, especially, please keep calling this out and standing up for your women colleagues (and thanks to those who do).

Always thought a scholar of jurisprudence is a jurisprudent. Now discover a variant — a jurisprude. Much enjoying the shiftiness between the two.

I’m at the Olympic Stadium and there is a break for a VAR check. It’s going on for a while, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to jot down a few thoughts about VAR.

Reading the chapter of Wodehouse's "Logic of Will" where she tries to show that what's good for an agent is also good for the entire universe. I can't help but think of Aquinas' teleogical ethics here.

The Philosopher Queens is being translated into German! 🇩🇪 🥳 We're so excited that the indie publisher has fallen in love with it and will release the German version in spring 2021 👑

I'm looking for anyone who works weekends, regularly enough that "weekend" has become redundant as a leisure concept: - anyone who has never really had the w/kend off - anyone who is technically off work but could never complete their workload without working w/ends (eg teachers)

Great case—arguably it shows we can plurally refer while thinking we are singularly referring (a claim that was quite important for my dissertation, for reasons I can't really remember).

Doing Cavendish on colour this week, I think she’s about as far from an illusionist as it’s possible to be - she thinks that colours (as experienced by us) are so real they could in principle be felt by touch

I'm giving a public lecture tomorrow on "Why should we be good?" and I can't believe my answer is "because we want to" and it's taken me THIS LONG to think to include a slide referencing Billie Piper.

I wonder how much of the analytical complaint against continental philosophy being unreadable is due to the difficulty of translating German in English.

I find a round square easier. Imagine a square. Now imagine it with slightly corners. It's still a square, of sorts, clearly. Now round them more, and then more. It's getting to be a bit of a *roundish* square, isn't it. Now round them so there are no straight sides left...
