    Also of note: Settled Status will be a digital status and EU citizens won’t be able to get a physical document proving their status. So what happens with right to rent checks and similar interactions with private individuals?

    In practice, rather than producing dozens documents to show continuous residence, many of those with poor documentation will presumably just opt for ‘pre-settled status’ and wait longer (i.e. up to 5 years) for the permanent status.

    After much talk about simplified evidence requirements for Settled Status, today’s proposals are a bit more restrictive than I was expecting. Those without official docs can use alternatives but many, e.g. invoice or utility bill, will only prove one month’s worth of residence.
