In observance of Memorial Day, the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Supervisor’s Office and Welcome Center will be closed Monday, May 29th. Our trails remain open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. We wish you a safe, peaceful holiday weekend.

The bridge over Prairie Creek on the Blodgett Marsh Trail is currently closed. Access to the trail via this entrance is closed until repairs can be made. For more information about the alternative access route please see our website fs.usda.gov/midewin or call 815-423-6370.

Turn left (west) at that point and continue down that service road for 0.2 miles until you intersect the trail.

USDA Forest Service staff will be conducting prescribed burning starting next week in parts of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. Preparations are being made to conduct burning as weather permits. You might see smoke due to the controlled burning.
