Half the world’s population lives within 200 kilometers of the ocean. That’s why we’re going deep with this experimental datacenter. #ProjectNatick http://msft.social/4ZJeJd pic.twitter.com/4zRZ67wgc9

I wonder how many datacenters in the ocean would equal greenhouse gasses warming the ocean.

So we can "hide" data from "the enemy," or will society come to depend on these in daily life so when one fails a section of society will be purged because they're suddenly no one?

Using the ocean to cool your servers will mean you'll be warming up the oceans, albeit a small amount for just the 1 right now, when you get to hundreds or thousands, won't this become an issue?

The cooling system is tucked away inside of it and sealed off. Shouldn’t emit any heat at all.

So where is the heat going then? It has to go somewhere to cool down.

Interesting idea. I'd like to see some data on how putting a heater in cold water effects that water's natural ecosystem. Every data center creates heat but is this a fair trade off?

I'm sure they did their homework, but I don't think they'll heat up the ocean.

If this device doesn't promote health hazards to both fish, wildlife & humans while it sits in the water.. I'm all for it. *More so if it can locate wreckage from plane or boat accidents...to HELP #Rescue people. NOBODY has still conquered mapping out the ocean-it's a necessity
