Of course, it is never fun to hear about an error or duplication in your papers.
But to call out the people who point out these errors "turds", "resentful", "petty" or "failed" is wrong. @DMSabatini should graciously accept that science needs to be self-correcting.

A successful scientist with dozens of high impact papers should not denigrate students who write a thoughtful post about those papers
@PubPeer after a journal club, or other scientists who pointed out an image duplication by calling them turds.Prikaži ovu nit

I feel this comment from
@DMSabatini a bit too much. Call failed scientists people that often make amazing post-reviewing and point up serious concerns about articles is a very embarrassing comment from researcher. What is a failed vs. successful scientist Dr. Sabatini? -
Do for
@DMSabatini the success of a scientist is measured on the only IF or what? Comments like this piss me totally off bc are just the result of the non-acceptance of self-correcting in science and ignorance. - Još 1 odgovor

The problem is it is hard to discern "actual discoveries" from "occasional mistakes" when he has 32 flagged problems on Pubpeer. Do we now accept that sloppy manuscript preparation and publication is the hallmark of a successful scientist?

Hi Elisabeth and
@DMSabatini, as often happens in science, both these things are true. There are some misguided vigilantes on@Pubpeer and other platforms, but there are serious scientists making sure the scientific record is as solid as current methods allow.Hvala.
