If my teachers had been armed, I wouldn't be here.

Except in this case it's a gasoline/oil/electrical fire. Everyone tells the firefighters to spray the house down with water, but that won't help. Will probably make the fire worse. The underlying cause of the fire needs to be addressed, or all the water in the world won't help.

I won't pretend that I have the answer to America's gun problem. But I take issue with the idea that the solution is just more guns. I cannot think of a single situation, regardless of cause, where the answer to the problem is more of the problem.
-
I agree that the solution is not more guns. But neither is it simply "more gun control." And I'm also not saying "no gun control." Just that there are huge underlying problems, like poverty, lack of access to education, health & mental health services. No easy fix.

Also to be clear, when I talk about mental health services, it has nothing to do w/ mass shootings. 65% of gun deaths in the US are suicides. Another 30+% are homicides unrelated to mass shootings (hence poverty & education).pic.twitter.com/jobhicVFpC
