As he lay dying, Harold wondered if martyrdom cuts both ways. Symbols can't die, but they can't speak. Or make choices. In a shakey hand he wrote, "Not fair," in his own blood. The monument to him read, "Not Far," in tribute to a man who died before seeing the promised land.
