1) I always love reading your mini-stories. You have such a vivid imagination
This story struck me in particular because it took me back to my childhood home, where my own mother committed suicide. Yes, I am sad. Yes, I am angry. Yes, I am bitter.

This one’s a bit of a cheat. My mother actually did die in the living room of my childhood home (cancer). I would never say this to the current occupants, but once I thought of the scenario I couldn’t resist sharing.
-
I thought that this story had a ‘real’ vibe to it. I didn’t see the asterisks at the beginning, so I assumed it was just another from your imagination. I am sorry for the loss of your mother
I can definitely empathize. -
The but about telling the new owners is definitely imagined — and my mother would never haunt a place. But most of these stories, even the weird ones, have a root in some sort of real experience.
-
As someone who's mom also died in the back den at age 12, wanna make a real estate scam where we tell people their house is haunted. Buy low, sell high.
-
I have too much compassion for anyone who still lives in my old hometown.

Here's another true one. Names changed, of course. Someone my dad knew:
-
"Jim?" "Let's not, Rick." "I'm sorry you had to raise us." "After Dad lying to us for so long, he wasn't fit." "I wanted to believe him." "She was dead. Cancer." "Without saying goodbye." Suddenly Rick screamed, pointing. Jim saw her face in the mirror, mouthing I love you.

The Barenaked Ladies turned something like this into "The Old Apartment" but in that story they didn't knock on the door.
