If it makes you feel better, the techno song from the 90s is based on a traditional song sung by African-American slaves, so it was already a kind of poetry.

Oh Jesus. Now I'm even more conflicted watching scantily clad girls dance on top of dugouts to this song at Braves games.

The history of pop music is a history of borrowing/blending/appropriation. I think it's good to be aware and feel the conflict.

The irony here is beautifully stunning. A "Braves" game, the inevitable video montage playing tribute to Willie Mays, and the bastardization of a traditional slave song while thousands of fans do the tomahawk chop. Melting pot indeed.
