My headcanon is that it's like Major Major Major Major from Catch-22: The name comes first and the title comes later because the universe abhors a vacuum.

Makes sense!

I had this conversation with my brother. Somehow, I still wound up watching two seasons of the show. I had to stop, because then there was a guy called 'The Master' who was now a woman, and I just couldn't anymore...

I actually kinda like the show, albeit as a casual fan. The most interesting thing about it for me, though, is the way it reckons (or doesn't reckon) with its own 50+ years of history, across several eras of TV and attitudes toward how/if canon matters.

I do intend to get back to it. After stopping, I found I quite missed it. I believe my problem is finding a way to suspend analysis, and to simply allow it to be. I had more fun when I was new to it, and that was my attitude.

Well, the title is named after him, that's easy. But why is his first name "The".

I always thought they called them that because they fix things in time and space. Hence: _the_ Doctor, not _a_ doctor.

Strange Sightings A salt and pepper haired man wearing black dusty chef clogs eyed Geoff. Geoff wondered WTF! Did the short, cheap perfume wearing male with open button shirt imagine Geoff in a wok full of kale and broc' or some other strange fantasy.
