Dear , Bill in the auto parts department at your Calgary Country Hills store has now saved my life - and probably the lives many others in my riding - on multiple occasions, lol. He is a credit to your company and frankly, a national treasure. 🙏🏻

You've made it harder for journalists to get exposure, particularly if and pull links to their content due to this trash bill. Legacy media outlets are bilking naives and cronies for fumes to prolong the death of an outdated, unsustainable modality. Canadians lose.

gov’t will always support quality, fact-based and local Canadian journalism in a fair digital marketplace. This bill makes it harder for big digital platforms like Facebook and Google to steal local journalists’ articles and repost them without credit on one of their networks 3/3

“For the hundreds of millions of dollars Canadian taxpayers have spent on this system, we should get a visa processing system that is fair, rigorous, and fast — not the debacle the federal government is currently presiding over.” ⁦

It likely will significantly disrupt fields like law, coding, and opinion writing within the year. Get ready.

I remain convinced that #ChatGPT is just a bunch of third-year undergrads in a room somewhere, typing as fast as they can. Cause that’s what it reads like.

This is an interesting take. A lawyer working on moderation/enforcement at a private company actually knows quite a bit about ToS, which is what is relevant to their policy decision. Not the Bill of Rights at all, despite the current popular framing of the issue in the discourse.

Following this thought through on a different direction, I wonder what the over/under is if the first move to outright ban GPT3 in a westernized country comes before the end of 2023.

Seriously, though. The censorship pressure applied to social media over the last decade pales in comparison to the censorship pressure that will be applied to AI.

Laurentian elite? What Laurentian elite? A panel discussion about Alberta where no one lives or works west of Toronto. Can you imagine CBC holding a similar panel on Quebec without having anyone on from Quebec or even east of Regina? This is what $1.5 billion a year buys you.

Physicists have used Google's quantum computer to send a signal through a wormhole, a shortcut in space-time first theorized by Einstein and Rosen in 1935. The landmark experiment was published today in Nature. Lots to say about it. Here's my deep dive:

Yikes. Several reporters have steadfastly corrected folks about the current state of media subsidization as it relates to (traditional) print vs broadcast media. I wonder if they knew about this / agree with this. 😬
