Hardline Brexiteers won last evening's Westminster vote because of Sinn Fein abstentionism. Anti Brexit majority in Northern Ireland not represented in any forum.Durkan,Ritchie, and Mcdonnell would have defeated that damaging vote for Ireland.

Michael, if FF had MP's would you have directed them to take their seats?

You are expecting a party to make a massive leap, a step which the founders of your party took ten years to make, despite a ravaging civil war inflicted on Ireland, by their refusal to accept compromise. Please drop the populism, and encourage rather than trying to score points.

Durkan, Richie and McDonnell were rejected by people. Why doesn’t FF end their abstentionism from elections in the 6 +are willing to take oath of allegiance to a foreign head of state, a monarchy no less. It’d be fun seeing nationalists send you back down with tails between legs

So by the same narrative John Finucaine, @newbelfast and Declan Kearney were all rejected in the North too? Thanks for clearing that up, even though I fail to see what these 3 men and SF's 7 MPs achieved regardless of their election or not. Being pushovers?

I’d rather abstain from a foreign parliament than abstain from representing six of your own counties.

Except Sinn Féin are abstaining from representing the North as much as any Southern Party does these days. They have made absolutely no difference to Northern Politics in two years. They may as well disband in the North for the little they are doing with their mandate.

Three labour MPs voted with the govt tonight- also x2 LibDems and x2 SNP and another Labour MP didn't even show up to vote and you're trying to pin this nonsense on the shinners... who are democratically elected on an abstentionist ticket-ie-their voters don't want them at WM!

Sinn Féin have instead just planned to grobble to Leo Varadkar. I guess if this keeps up the merger with Fine Gael will finely be on the cards again.
