this is literally 100% exactly what a lot of us very loudly declared the GOP would do. Create a debt crisis then say, 'we have to cut entitlement programs to get us out of debt'. Further prediction: GOP will call any reversals of the recent tax cut a tax hike.

SSDI -is- an entitlement program and Republicans -will not- care. They will call all of SS an entitlement program and they will cut it if they can.

When they do, making payroll taxes into income taxes, it will be a massive regressive tax hike. It will also force a lot of professional people under 50 to make choices that would not be pretty for the USA.
