Not only is it ok for rich people to pay proportionately more, it is economically, fiscally, and morally imperative that they do so. 10% from someone making $40,000 leaves them with $36,000. 10% from someone making $40 million leaves them with $36 million.https://twitter.com/EMSLawyer/status/1081306225483014144 …

So... it's okay for OTHER people to pay disproportionately more than you because they have more? Let's extrapolate that: would you be willing to pay 70% now? Do you take tax deductions to minimize your tax liability now? I imagine the answers are No and Yes respectively.

How about you? If you make $100k, you earn more than most. That makes you richer than most. Why not take YOUR fair 70% share from you?

I don't understand why you can't see the difference between someone earning $100,000 and someone bringing home $10 million.

Yeah... the difference is that it is not you and you didn't work for the money you think should be taken away; you are all for taking more from people as long as it's not you. If you TRULY believe yourself, I challenege you to not attempt to get or accept any money back in April

Apologies. You refused to acknowledge (not agree, but acknowledge or indicate that you understood) Michael’s very simple response to you. His income example couldn’t be clearer.

It was clear. It was arbitrary. It was one person being generous with someone else's money and I find that objectionable. I am 100% sure that if he actually made over $10M, he would have a different opinion.

Paying taxes isn't a penalty. If you have more assets (& net worth is indeed an asset), then you have more to lose in the event of, say, this country being invaded by Russia or China or whoever. Paying taxes pays for the defense of your assets. As simplistic as I can put it.

If we looked at the % of *discretionary* income left over after taxes, the very wealthy would look even better off. In the example you give, the top one would have 5-10% of their income that is disposable after taxes. The bottom one would probably be somewhere around 90-95%.

Let’s look at it fairly, if everyone pays 10% the more u earn the more u pay, it’s not a brained to understand its turning too robbery when I take anyone’s money away they earned if it’s not the same for everyone,
