I assume the Republican senators in the “it was inappropriate (though he shouldn’t be removed from office)” camp will introduce a resolution censuring the president for his inappropriate conduct, and warning him, since he’ll still be in office, about doing anything like it again.

An epitaph for the Republican Party in the time of Trump. “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” — George Orwell

There seem to be a lot of Republicans, even Senators, who agree Trump is guilty but just think he shouldn't be punished...even though the punishment means he could go back to being the old that most people used to like at least some of the time. Very dangerous.

After this is over, the first thing Congress should do is subpoena John Bolton. Second, Lev Parnas. Then hold public hearings and issue new articles of impeachment that negate the terms argued by the President's counsel.

. cannot complain Obama investigated him on the one hand, and then on the other hand say it's "Perfect" for a President to ask for investigations that might have a conflict of interests. We have to make those choices, the President shouldn't be involved.

Don't be surprised, be angry. Show all of these GOP Senators treating Trump like a king that American democracy still works by voting them out. Every last one of them.

Abuse of power is impeachable. Impeachment trials have witnesses. By rejecting these principles, the Senate does lasting harm to our constitutional republic.

. says, just because the President *did* what he's been impeached for (using his office to cheat in an election followed by a coverup blocking the investigation) doesn't mean he should be removed from office by the Senate. YES IT DOES.

So what he's saying is, he knows the President tried to cheat in the upcoming election, and he doesn't see it as his job to fix that. Somehow, it's YOUR job as a voter, to sort out the misinformation for yourself.

When elected officials inappropriately interfere with such investigations, it undermines the principle of equal justice under the law. 6/15

It was inappropriate for the president to ask a foreign leader to investigate his political opponent and to withhold United States aid to encourage that investigation. 5/15

There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a “mountain of overwhelming evidence.” 3/15

There is no need for more evidence to prove that the president asked Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter; he said this on television on October 3, 2019, and during his July 25, 2019, telephone call with the president of Ukraine. 2/15

What's so upsetting is how the facts all clearly add up: The President abused his office, covered it up, and broke laws doing both. And the President's council says he can't be impeached for doing "something which he believes will help him get elected"

. asked how much Senators should weight the fact convicting the President removes him from office and prevents him from running ever again. NONE! That's the punishment. He's suggesting we shouldn't find guilty because it would mean he gets punished!
