In Egypt's Middle Kingdom (c. 2055-1650 B.C.), it was customary to create small wooden figurines & sometimes full dioramas as funerary objects. These give us remarkable insight into the lives of these ancient people: plowing fields, rowing boats, accounting for grain. So cool.

What do you expect evolution to look like in a microbial population? Check out our new study offering a view of that over 1000 generations in yeast in the lab. co-led by , , in 's lab

Accidentally duplicated every item in my library. A sane person would've written a script to automate the merging process. I took the analogue approach.

Our new paper examining the impact of cross-species gene flow on species tree estimation is now available on biorxiv. Surprisingly low amounts of gene flow can mislead inferences.

Saturday is a great day to get things done if you've been putting them off! Lucky for me, the only thing I've been able to put off is relaxing.

I spent way too much time putting together this video of Alex Trebek saying the word "genre," so now you have to RT it. Sorry, I don't make the rules

I love tea. I love genetics. But we're a long way from using polygenic scores to understand differences among groups in tea drinking & other behaviours. [Preprint version]

Mystery (not-quite) solved! It turns out the skeletons of Roopkund Lake belong to multiple distinct groups of people who died ~1000 years apart. Not only did they not die during a single catastrophic event, their ancestry is also amazingly diverse! 1/8
