The problem with money, relationships and sex is that they delude you into thinking happiness is external. They give you a quick hit of pleasure that makes you addicted to more. But the problem is they don't lead to lasting happiness. True fulfillment is all internal.

When you're overly emotional in a particular situation, or when your behavior lacks consistency, it's your mind's way of saying "Give me more of this situation, so that I can learn to master myself."

Many smart philosophers were some of the most lonely and miserable people in history. Philosophising is the act of missing the present moment. Life is to be lived, not pondered upon.

Sure, it's great to have positive thoughts, but you really don't have to argue away "negative thoughts" in order to be happy. That might even increase their power over you! Instead, see if you can practice letting thoughts be; what they are, without getting tangled up in them!

"J Lo is only still fit because she's rich and has a trainer" Please. I could carry you to the gym and cook you every meal and you'd still complain and give up. Trainer or not, you need to work your ass off to be fit and healthy. Most people just don't have it in them.
