Excited to see this up on biorxiv. This was a fun collaboration. Tagging Marge too . She does have a twitter account, which she manages to use even less than I do.

Out now: Body map proto-organization in newborn macaques, with and . We find that topographic maps of the body exist throughout the primate somato-motor system (cortex + thalamus) at birth.

Our study in collaboration with Ashesh Mehta's group is out! We find a convergence between the neural face-space, recorded intracranially in humans, and the one formed in mid layers of a deep convolutional network (VGG-Face). :

I’ll be presenting a poster on Monday morning (8-12). Come by to chat about which aspects of anticipatory spiking activity in the attention network are associated with behavioral performance. Spike rate vs. oscillatory patterns in spike times.

My new work shows human cortex involved in reading and remembering faces doesn’t appear to thin as much as we thought as children develop. Instead, there is increase in myelin, a fatty tissue insulating nerve fibers.

How do we integrate sequences of information over time? In a study led by Sherry Chien () we measured how the brains of different people align, second-by-second, when they hear the same sentence preceded by different contexts. We found a hierarchical gradient in cortex:

The Pokémon paper is out! In this study, we scanned the brains of adults, who as children, became Pokémon experts. We find a region of their brain becomes uniquely responsive to , helping us get at why the brain is organized the way it is.
