How do we advocate for our children when they are faced with unjust situations in school? Justice is what love sounds like when it speaks in public.

Not "only in the Panhandle." I was a Mayor in the Panhandle. Only at a rally. That's where a weak man stokes violence. And weak politicians are complicity silent. And our country grows more divided.

This is a sick country and this is just one of the toxic symptoms that Black people live with everyday. And don’t say he’s a “bad apple.” The tree is rotten!

Another “bad apple?” No, the policing system tree is rotten with racism and legalized brutality of black bodies. The whole system needs to be transformed.

The woman who said Emmett Till came onto her lied about what he said. The officer who killed Oscar Grant lied about what he did. The police withheld video of Sandra Bland that tells a different story. There’s a long history of black ppl being killed based on someone else’s lie.

So cultural nuance of ’ look - People used to show up to the African American Day parade in Harlem with frames around their faces! Lorraine O’Grady’s ‘Art Is’ movement. Centering blackness as beauty. Reclaiming the narrative. BLACK CAMP!

Local authorities kept this cell phone video from Sandra Bland a secret for 4 years. Local journalists fought to get it released. Sandra Bland knew her rights. She never should've been arrested and threatened in the first place. A gross abuse of power from this officer.

I wrote these tips after a loved one’s grandson experienced racial violence at school. The response to his post reinforced my belief that many parents do not know how to approach conflict with the school system (or that they can).
