Why, all of a sudden, it seems the US press cannot do their work anymore and gets harassed by police &c.? Did this ever happen before? Or is this completely new? Why now?

It has happened before, but it used to only happen off camera. In Ferguson it happened. And back before then with the Occupy movement it happened, but since MSM barely covered Occupy, most people didn't know.
