My personal take on the Clinton Prison Labor thing: abhorrent, indefensible, "it was 20 years ago" man it was fucked even then and

Both Clinton and Sanders are clung to as tragic heroes. "She was right!" "Bernie would've won!" It's over; we *have* to move on.

Clinton was always mortal, fallible, and deeply flawed. I don't want her to "go back to the woods," but she's also not the hero we need.

That Clinton hasn't owned up to that is a grievous failing. That her defenders are going to the mat for *this* is unconscionable.

Prisons were and are still used as a way of preserving slavery's exploitative mechanisms to both oppress black Americans and get free labour

The exception in the Reconstruction Amendments carved out for prisoners was a backdoor to keeping de facto slavery alive.

I was absolutely appalled; while she's hardly the only politico who's culpable, the thoughts she offers are beyond any reasoned defence.

So, it's time to say something about this: I read that passage about Clinton's thoughts on her Governor's Mansion prison labour.
