    Used to show this to my kids when they were little. (They of course "got it.") One of my favorite things in the world.

    Animator Max Fleischer, immigrant to America from Poland, used Cab Calloway’s version of “St James Infirmary” in 1933 to create this surreal Betty Boop cartoon. He invented the Rotoscope, which allowed animatation of Cab’s dance moves. Remember, melting pots create the best art.

    I hope that you will read David Remnick's full note to the staff about the reasoning behind the Steve Bannon event and its cancellation when it is available. I am hugely relieved that the event will not happen.

    The Village Voice played a very profound role in my family’s history (and other histories as well). In 1963, my Grandfather was riding in a cab in Soho and reading the Voice and he saw an ad.
