I find the language of self help / self care memes very morose. e.g. "you are enough", "drink water", "don't be so hard on yourself", "everyone should go to therapy." It's packaged like advice, but presumes sickness/ailment. It seems to have the absence of any clear idealism.
Part of the reason it’s packaged like clinical prescription and treatment is because of how self-help and mental health issues had to follow the medical model to be legitimized. Was out of good intentions to take such issues seriously, but the downsides aren’t acknowledged enough
