I've been told on multiple occasions that I look / sound like I "know what I'm doing" or that I give off an air of being competent—even when this is more incorrect than not, or when I say out loud that I'm not particularly informed on a topic. If I had to guess why I give off this signal...I speak with minimal filler words (uh, like, etc.) and am comfortable making confident statements about my lack of confidence. Instead of making people trust you less, it seems to create *more* trust to do so.
