Life skill classes should include education about persuasive technology and addiction—tech has never had such a captive and young audience. General characteristics of addiction and its risk factors are far more vital than telling kids "weed bad school good" and calling it a day.

Came to this through reading about addiction and more extreme cases only to realize that the theories and advice are just as applicable to mundane examples of social media, newsfeed addiction, online gaming, shopping, etc.

Addicts (call them people enticed into compulsive behavior if the term sounds extreme) are the best consumer base for any product. Publishing / distribution for goods and information are more immediate than ever before. Companies spend millions to rig the game in their favor.

Put two and two together and it’s obvious that there needs to be more effort put into anti-captology to match the overwhelming amount of new ways to be addicted.
